Behind the Story

Joe Carter has the lowdown on the NY Times MagazineCostco abortion” girl, Amy Richards: she has worked with Planned Parenthood, and is founder of a feminist organization which has financed abortions.

Carter rightly ponders why the Times tried to conceal this bit of the story:

Apparently, the Times realized that framing the story as a tale of an abortion rights activist having yet another abortion wouldn’t quite have the same appeal as a tale of a freelance writer making a difficult choice.

The story sounds more harrowing if it’s just the girl next door. Such evil has deep roots, though, and it’s not surprising that she’s a “professional.”

  1. I don’t know why I’m EVER surprised at anything the NYT pulls, but that does seem like a rather important (and convenient) detail to leave out.
