Various and Asundry

There are some things that should never take place on a Sunday—weddings and college football are definitely among them. These two events conspired to keep me from viewing the Tennessee Vols’ home opener yesterday, a 42-17 victory over UNLV.

Qohelet tells us that for everything there is a season. It’s time we take his advice and end such anachronisms: college football belongs on Saturdays, and weddings in the spring (my own excluded, of course).

Other advice and tidbits:

Future brides—think twice before you get that tatoo on your back with some other man’s name on it. Think thrice before you wear a wedding dress that flagrantly exposes the aforementioned tatoo…

Cincinnati Labor Day Fireworks

Also, when in a foreign city (Cincinnati in particular), be sure to determine before traveling whether or not the city has a Labor Day firework event that turns Interstate 471 into a parking lot during the show. We sat for 45 minutes last night as onlookers in parked cars ooohed and aaahed at the twinkling lights.

That’s all for now—back to regular posting soon.

Please don’t tell me this really happened!
